Concerts
Being in choir is a year-long commitment and requires you to attend evening performances. Below are the concert dates for the school year. If you are involved in sports or other activities that conflict with these dates, you should not sign up for choir!
- Performances are mandatory, so plan ahead and make every effort to be there.
- Students are responsible for informing your parents about concert dates/times and arranging transportation.
-If there is a serious schedule conflict, I will accept a note or phone call from a parent excusing the absence at least two weeks before a scheduled performance.
-If there is an emergency and you cannot attend a performance, then a parent should write a note or call after the emergency to excuse you.
ANY MISSED PERFORMANCE WILL REQUIRE A PARENT TO CONTACT THE CHOIR DIRECTOR TO EXPLAIN THE ABSENCE. STUDENTS MUST CONTACT ME AFTER THEY RETURN TO SCHOOL TO DISCUSS THEIR MISSED PERFORMANCE AND TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO DO THEIR MAKE-UP PERFORMANCE.

Of course our main goal is to sing well at our concerts, but looking good is also important! Concert attire this year will be black. Plan ahead to have these clothes ready for our first concert!

To enjoy singing and also develop musicianship,
we need to respect each other and the work of the choir.
By following these expectations and guidelines, you can help your choir succeed!
Choir Expectations
- Purchase a one-inch three-ring binder for choir class. This will be your choir folder that will hold all your music and written work. It will be stored in the choir room. You also need a pencil.
- Wear a well fitting 3-layer mask at all times. I will provide one if you need it.
- Come to class on time and take your place on the risers right away.
- Be respectful to all members of our choir.
- Listen and follow directions during warm-ups and rehearsals.
- Be willing to take chances and be a contributing member of our choir.
Classroom Guidelines
- Have folder, music, and pencil with you at all times.
- Be respectful at all times:
- No talking when the teacher is giving directions—especially if it is another section of the choir that is working/singing. Talk and visit DURING BREAKS!!!
- PARTICIPATE—during warm-ups, sight-singing, and rehearsal. ALWAYS.
- Appreciate when others work hard or sound great! (You can do this by clapping, smiling, or giving a compliment!)
- Don’t chew gum in choir. It is a huge safety risk! Please deposit gum in the wastebasket before class begins.
- Drink water only in choir; no other food or drink is allowed.
- Cell phone use is prohibited (including texting) and should not be visible during class.
